Charter of Rights

 

Clients have many individual rights. We understand these rights and work towards informing, supporting and assisting clients to maintain their independence, wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

Tribe Aged Care adopts a policy of non-discrimination in the provision of our services and supports to all clients. We are committed to delivering services in accordance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and promoting choice, independence, respect and inclusion.

 

Clients have the Right to

  • access services that promote, uphold and respect their legal and human rights

  • be treated with dignity, respect and courtesy

  • exercise informed choice and control over the services they receive

  • freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making

  • receive services that respect their culture, identity, beliefs and values

  • access services that respect their privacy and confidentiality

  • access services that support and enhance their independence

  • receive safe and high-quality services

  • receive services free from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination or harassment

  • be involved in decisions about their care, services and supports

  • receive services from workers who are competent, qualified and appropriately trained

  • have concerns, feedback and complaints listened to and addressed without fear of adverse consequences

  • have access to an advocate, representative, family member or support person of their choice

  • consent to the sharing of information between providers where required to support service delivery and continuity of care

  • access information about their services in a way they can understand

  • be supported to take reasonable risks and make decisions about their own life

  • receive services that are responsive to their changing needs and circumstances

Clients Responsinilities

  • respect the rights of our workers and help maintain a workplace that is safe, healthy and free from harassment

  • abide by the terms of their Service Agreement with Tribe Aged Care

  • understand that their needs may change and, correspondingly, services provided may need to change to meet those needs

  • accept responsibility for their actions and choices, recognising that some decisions may involve risk

  • inform us of any concerns regarding services, workers or safety

  • share relevant information that assists us to provide safe and appropriate services

  • care for their own health and wellbeing to the best of their ability

  • provide information that will help us better understand and meet their needs

  • give as much notice as possible if they are unable to attend or receive a scheduled service

  • understand that workers are only authorised to perform the agreed tasks and hours outlined in their Service Agreement and care plan

  • participate in home safety and risk assessments where required

  • ensure pets are appropriately controlled during service delivery

  • provide a smoke-free working environment where possible

  • pay any agreed client contributions or private service fees applicable to their services

  • provide notice where possible if they wish to end services

  • advise Tribe Aged Care if they no longer wish to receive a service or support
